Congratulations to Alexander Henkes for winning the Best Dissertation Award!

Dr. Henkes won the Matthäi Prize for his outstanding dissertation at the Technical University of Braunschweig.

by Kasia Di Muzio

The prize is offered by the Faculty of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences at TU Braunschweig. In his thesis external page"Artificial Neural Networks in Continuum Micromechanics", Alexander Henkes developed efficient AI algorithms for stochastic simulations in engineering physics using three-dimensional computer vision and geometric generative algorithms. In addition, he shows that artificial neural networks are able to solve heterogeneous micromechanical problems directly, without the need for data, using a technique called Physics Informed Neural Networks (PINN).
